Purpose:
The South East Youth Conference seeks to raise a generation of passionate young people excited about Jesus Christ and His mission. We strive to instill a higher vision for what God wants to accomplish through our lives. Through education and training, endeavor to unite young Christians anxious to share Christ here and now until His return.
"I strongly believe that SEYC's purpose is to draw young and old closer to Christ than ever before and to prepare for His soon coming!"
-Jonathan Reynolds, SEYC President
"For many years, Christians have been talking about training an army of youth to finish the work. I really believe that SEYC is accomplishing this in a real and tangible way."
-Shama Eller, SEYC VP Communications
Theme:
In a foreign country with alien customs and beliefs, Daniel and his friends were faced with a choice: to boldly follow the faith of their fathers or to leave it behind. They chose to place their lives in God's hands. Because of this, they were able to witness in ways they never dreamed possible.
But Daniel and his friends were only four people in a whole generation of young people taken into captivity. What would have happened if ALL the captive Hebrews had held fast to their faith in the true God? What an impact they would have made! We will never know the countless number of people directly affected by Daniel and his three friends, not to mention those influenced through the Biblical account of their story. And there were only four of them! What if there had been a thousand more who stood up for their faith?
God has called us to be a generation set apart, but just as a waterfall is made up of many little droplets, a generation is made up of individuals. We can each be like Daniel in a world fast falling apart, and together,we can make a roaring cascade for Christ. If we, as a whole generation, put God and His law foremost in our lives, we will see the Holy Spirit work in unprecedented ways.
Do you dare to be like Daniel? Do you dare to be different? Different in speech, different in action, and different in character? Are you ready to put it all on the line for Christ? Now is the time to live up to our calling, to be a "chosen generation."
